The FARMER LIVELIHOOD KIT

The FLK ensures efficient water use, allowing better control over crop quality by reducing the incidence of diseases common with flood irrigation.

How does it work?

The Farmer Enhancement Kit (FNK) consists of a network of plastic pipes with emitters. The emitters have drippers in the holes of the pipes that control the delivery of water directly to the root zone in quantities that approach the optimal consumptive use of the plants.

With the use of the technology, smallholder farmers can plant vegetables and fruits to improve their nutrition and to sell in local markets for higher prices than staple crops. And they can increase their incomes by up to two to three times what they make from traditional crops.
